The Full Story

Our History

The SDSU Biodiversity Club has a longstanding history of community building; collaboration with SDSU staff and faculty; and building bridges between students and scientific professionals. Members and officers alike have gone on to do great things— from working with the San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance to government consulting jobs. We are an organization that strives for education and appreciation of nature!

Our Founding

In 2010, an intrepid group of San Diego State students, an Evolutionary Biology Professor, and a Curator of the SD Natural History Museum set out with a dream for their campus community. This vision became the SDSU Natural History Club, founded in March of that year. Several years passed and it was renamed to the Zoology Club. Again, with an inspiration towards improving the community at SDSU and creating a hub of resources and education, club officers envisioned this organization with a new name: the Biodiversity Club. While we retain the same mission of supporting biodiversity and educating the community, this change has allowed us to encompass a greater array of disciplines and interest areas as well as making clear our ultimate goal of supporting nature.
